What to Expect When Expecting
We are pleased you chose Riverside Pools and Spas to install your new pool! We would like to take a moment to give you some information to prepare you for the pool journey.

Permits and Compliance
Permits and Compliance
As a contractor, we must obtain building, electrical, and possibly mechanical permits to install your pool. We must closely follow all local and state policies and procedures to keep you and your pool safe. These will require certain information and documents that we will collect from you as needed. There will also be inspections throughout the process. Some may require your permission and/or presence, including a final inspection that will ultimately be the signal that your pool is ready to use!
One to two weeks prior to the pool set date, we will have an on-site meeting with you to discuss your project – pool and equipment placement, access to site, elevation of pool, fence/gate compliance, grading/landscape plans, and any added extras (fountains, outdoor shower, sitting wall, firepit, etc.). At this point, you may also notice location services being done and flags or markings on your property.

First Few Weeks
The first few weeks of the install you can expect multiple people/trades to be involved. First will be digging the hole, setting the pool with a crane, plumbing, equipment hook-up, backfilling the pool, and a pool full of water! The hole that is dug for the pool is larger than the pool itself, which allows for a safe working area around the pool, and to accommodate the plumbing.

Following Weeks
The following weeks will be the pool grounding with inspection, installation of lights, and pouring of the bond beam for masonry coping. The last steps will be running the electrical for the equipment (and another inspection), grading/landscaping, kicking on the pumps, pool cleaning, and fence installation or modification.

The timing of these events is weather dependent and based on availability of trades. There will even be days when no work will be done. We move as quickly as possible with quality and customer satisfaction a priority.

Keeping You and Your Neighbors Happy
Pool installation is a very invasive process to your yard and your space and could be disruptive to your neighbors. Please notify them that heavy equipment will be coming, large quantities of dirt will be moved, and streets may be temporarily blocked with the crane.

You will be amazed at how understanding people can be when notified ahead of time. Many will also come out to watch!
The streets may be a little dirty for a couple of weeks, but we do our absolute best to keep the mess and disruption to a minimum. The site must stay secure until all fencing is placed, so we will use orange barrier fencing to block off the area for safety. Once water is in the pool, we will use chemicals to help decrease algae growth and keep the water clean, but please understand it is NOT swimmable until the pumps are functioning, the pool is cleaned, and final inspection has been done

Last, but not least, is pool maintenance. We highly recommend utilizing a service for the first year to become familiar with your equipment and pool care process. We only utilize saltwater systems, but salt is not the only thing needed to keep your pool water balanced. If you prefer to do it yourself, you will need cleaning equipment, testing strips, chlorine shock, algaecide, and other chemicals. The warranty of your equipment may be affected by improper care/chemical balances, stressing the importance of having professional help with care and maintenance of pool. Basic services can be weekly chemical checks/correction all the way to full cleaning and maintenance. We appreciate your business and are available to answer any questions you have along the way. Thank you for putting your trust in Riverside!
